LAKE KENYIR
LAKE KENYIR TERENGGANU
The Lake Kenyir is a damned up lake that provide water supply source and hydro electric power supply to the State of Terengganu. Situated in Hulu Terengganu it boast of back to nature experience. Now, resorts and spa sprung up and it become a tourist destination. For the fresh water fish anglers, this is surely one place that should not be missed.
I was there a couple of weeks before...err been taking sometimes to write this down. It was a far cry from the place I know a couple of years back. The new Gua Musang - Kuala Berang trunk road that provides a direct linkage to Terengganu from the West Coast, cutting across the Main Range passed through this Lake. Accessibility is good.
At vintage points we can see the lake by the Road. Some cars and vans were seen apparently with no owners, but peering down at the lake soon dismiss the wonder; they were busy throwing the lines and going about the lakeside, angling. Kelah Fish, the favorite fresh water fish could be found here.
Along the road is an exit to the lakeside recreation area. The local authority have thoughtfully made landing spots where we can enjoy the scenic surrounding from the `wakafs' erected or take stroll to the lakeside for feast of the eyes.
Somewhere along the lane is an entrance to a fabulous waterfall. A series of steps were built right up to the waterfall. The cool, clear water from the fall, collected in a bounded pool is a so beckoning to take a plunge into. Here also `wakafs' are erected for travellers.
Another exit to The Kenyir Resort and Spa take us to the Kenyir Jetty. Here we can take a boat ride around the Lake at modest cost. A half hour round in a boat for 8 people cost just about Rm60. Longer hours is cheaper in package and roaming area further away to some fishing spots. Day-night package is also available in a cruise type boat with full facility including bed, food and Astro.
This is really a place to bring the family to, a place to come again and again.
